We are committed to contribute to Deutsche Telekom’s global sustainability strategy and are fully aware of the responsibility arising from our environmental impact. 

During 2022, we continued setting up our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy and we will be focusing on the following developments in the upcoming years: energy efficiency, waste reduction, participating in social and environmental initiatives. We have also initiated measures to raise awareness of sustainability issues inside and outside the company. The objective is to strengthen our corporate culture and its focus on environmental topics.

This year, the group of volunteers called “Magenta Unicorns” continued developing measures for social and environmental initiatives, increasing the number of activities we took part in.

Awards, memberships and collaboration/participation in political dialogues (national/international)

From 2022, Deutsche Telekom Global Business has been a member of Ctecno, the leading foundation in the Catalan technology sector, an ecosystem of enterprises and professionals who aim to transfer knowledge and drive growth for companies, individuals, and society. 

Ctecno is leading a variety of initiatives to support projects offering improvement opportunities for professional companies in the ICT img and digitization industry. It is also putting different topics on the agenda of the ICT sector and key influencers in Catalonia. 

Magic Line

For the second time in succession, a group of 30 employees of Deutsche Telekom Global Business Iberia took part in the solidarity walk organized by San Juan de Dios Hospital in Madrid and Barcelona. This walk has been organized since 2014 and in this edition more than000 people walked under the motto “We are what we share”.

100 percent of the funds raised in this year’s edition were used for several projects in the fields of mental health, childhood, homelessness, social and healthcare, social exclusion, dependency, and international cooperation, including an allocation of EUR 40 000 for basic aid to Ukraine.

Plántalo

“Plántalo” (in English, “Plant it”) is an organization fighting deforestation and climate change by creating new forests and planting new trees in deforested areas.

A group of 25 volunteers of Deutsche Telekom Global Business spent a day planting a total of 100 trees for “Plántalo” in a rural area near Barcelona.

Technovation Girls

Technovation Girls is a global tech education not-for-profit organization that empowers girls to become leaders, creators and problem solvers. The program helps young women from the age of 8 to 18 years to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. A network of mentors, ambassadors, volunteers, and parents provides support and helps girls across the world to step up and solve real-life problems with technology. 

The Spanish edition of the program’s final event saw four employees from Deutsche Telekom Global Business Iberia acting as judges for the 20 projects that made it to the final. Our employees contributed their technology knowledge to help improve the Apps that the girls had coded over a period of several months.

At the same event, our employees hosted a workshop aimed at young engineers (girls from 12 to 16 years) in which they had the opportunity to experiment with Makey Makey hardware-based programming.

Green & Blue Hackathon

Last March, Cisco Spain launched the Green & Blue Hackathon img, the largest technology event on sustainability at national level. The objective was to actively contribute to the search for solutions to global sustainability problems with a focus on the new European Funds img. During the presentation of the event, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, explained the importance of this type of initiative and encouraged the participants to seek out solutions.

During the active period for the initiative, all the participating teams/partners took part in conversations with a variety of companies. A number of different proposals were presented and some are now being implemented in the participating companies.

In parallel with the sessions, each team had to prepare a theoretical or practical exercise with at least one environmental initiative and then defend it during the time allotted to the participants.
