Be a math whiz
The "Be a math whiz" project is being conducted by the Deutsche Telekom Stiftung foundation in collaboration with Technische Universität Dortmund, Freie Universität Berlin, Freiburg University of Education and Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (WWU) Münster. In the context of the project, which was launched in 2011, lesson structures, concepts and class materials were developed for low-achieving children and their teachers for grades 5 through 10. Four German states (North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Berlin and Brandenburg) are currently testing and evaluating the new methods and materials. The project results will make math classes more individual and effective. The project is scheduled to run for six years until 2017 and has 2.3 million euros available in funding.
