Employee Matching Gifts Program

T-Mobile’s Employee Matching Gifts Program amplifies employee good works and supports the causes they care about most. T-Mobile USA Foundation matches employees’ charitable donations to 501c3 charities − dollar for dollar − up to USD 2,000 per year, and employee volunteer time at USD 10 per hour – to thousands of eligible non-profits and schools.

Since we launched the program in October of 2015, T-Mobile and its employees have donated over USD 10 million through our Matching Gifts program. 23,460 of our employees (46%) have participated, and we’ve matched 134,000 volunteer hours. We’ve supported 8,898 non-profit organizations in the US.

In 2018, employees donated USD 1,813,681, which the Foundation matched with USD 1,668,624. Employees also logged 59,000 volunteer hours on their own time, which were matched at USD 10 per hour with USD 463,644.  In addition, for Giving Tuesday, the T-Mobile Foundation gave every emplyoee $27 to donate to a non-profit of their choice. This resulted in USD 488,277. The combined impact of T-Mobile Foundation and its employees in 2018 was over USD 4 million in charitable donations.

The T-Mobile Foundation engaged employees in two unique ways in 2018:

  1. To celebrate Earth Day, the Foundation set aside USD 50,000 for employees to decide which of four Nature conservancy Projects they wanted to support: Clean Energy, Plant a Billion Trees, Restore the Coral Reefs, or Save the Panther. This resulted in USD 50,000 donated to the Nature Conservancy from the T-Mobile Foundation for Earth Day.
  2. To celebrate #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving back, the T-Mobile Foundation gave every employee USD 27 to donate to a non-profit of their choice. This resulted in USD 488,277 donations to more than 5000  non-profits. 17,807 (35%) of all TMUS employees participated in Giving Tuesday.
