2020 Corporate Responsibility Report

Engaging our employees

Our employees serve as champions for their local communities. That’s why they’re at the heart of all the good we do. By supporting the causes they care most about, we’re able to help create vibrant, healthy communities.

Matching program
The T-Mobile Foundation employee matching program supports the causes that our employees are passionate about. The T-Mobile Foundation matches employees’ donations to thousands of charities, dollar for dollar. And, we don’t just stop there, we donate USD 10 per volunteer hour that they complete, up to a combined USD 2 000 per calendar year.

Following the close of T-Mobile’s merger with Sprint, we added 27 000+ legacy Sprint employees to the matching program. To support and welcome our new employees, we seeded their giving accounts with USD 25 each to donate to the causes they care most about.

Huddle up volunteer grants program
Our huddle up volunteer grants program encourages T-Mobile employees nationwide to self-organize in small teams to support youth focused non-profits through volunteering activities. Teams apply to the T-Mobile Foundation for a USD 5 000 grant to support their youth projects. In 2020, we were able to award USD 193 600 toward employee volunteer projects before we had to put the program on hiatus to encourage employee’s safety when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. We look forward to restarting the program again in 2021. Some examples of huddle up volunteer grants in action:

  1. In Kentucky, T-Mobile employees volunteered with St. Joseph’s Children’s Home for the fourth year in a row to meet with the children and participate in their variety of clubs and the annual Children’s Home fundraising picnic for the children. This children’s home provides refuge for abused children aged 5-15 and the continued funding from the huddle up program and the time/mentorship volunteered by our T-Mobile employees has contributed to 45 under-served children finding their forever homes over the past four years.
  2. In Philadelphia, a group of 75+ T-Mobile employees volunteered for the MLK Day of Service with City Year by working to revitalize a gymnasium and painted murals around the school. City Year partners with schools to create inclusive environments while helping students realize their full potential and remain on track for high school graduation.
